Like my heart, my soul, my will to live, my capacity to love, and everything that was good in my life, this blog is now dead.
I’ll leave it up for whoever cares but I’ll no longer be posting on here or logging in. Goodbye everyone.

White people amaze me. So self concerned and blinded by their own selfish desires and narrow scope of the world. Not able to grasp the concept of cultural appropriation and how negative stereotypes disenfranchise marginalized groups of people which aid in the justification of our unjust slaughter. They continue to bleed us dry of the things that set us apart and make us who we are as people of color and strip it of its significance to our people, disrespect its history and reduce it to an aesthetic enhancement all because they felt like playing dress up today. The caricature created by this false representation of our cultures perpetuates negative stereotypes that people actually believe which make it harder for us to get jobs, have meaningful relationships, speak up for ourselves and actually be heard, and exist comfortably in society. But since none of this effects white people they don’t even try to grasp the concept. They do things that are grossly offensive and pass it off as “just a joke,” or “just embracing another culture,” as they’re having fun at our expense. Then when you call out injustice, you’re the one that’s racist. You’re the evil immature bigot who needs to learn a thing or two. It’s even gotten to the point where some black people are echoing those same sentiments. It’s tiring and disgusting and discouraging to have to literally fight to exist I peace. White people are the menace of the earth. We are just asking you to respect us and leave us alone but you can’t do that because you want every aspect of everyone’s life to be about you and you have to be apart of everything and you need representation and your voice to be heard even though your entire existence has been one big genocide tour with a side of culture rape, censorship, and brainwashing. No one asked you to rip us from our land and bring us here to work for you. No one asked you to go to their country and take up residence and pretend you a native. No one asked you to set up your own systems of government in already perfectly functioning societies. Everyone is tired of your shit. The world is not yours to white wash. Our cultures are not yours to play dress up in. And our voices aren’t yours to silence. Enough is enough
(This was probably written in response to seeing a white dude with dreads and that’s just hilarious.)
“Cultural appropriation” does not create negative stereotypes. If anything, it creates positive ones. When a predominantly white country begins accepting aspects of black culture into the mainstream, it becomes normalized. It becomes easier to do all the things you listed as a black person. Getting a job, having meaningful relationships, speaking up for yourself and being heard, and existing comfortably in society are all easier when people don’t see you as an “other”.
There’s nothing unjust about cultural appropriation, because you do not fucking own a culture. You. do not. own. a culture. Cultures will be appropriated - or “shared” as it’s commonly known - with or without your approval. And that shared culture will form a new culture, which will then be shared, etc. That’s how the world works. That’s how culture works.
“…to have to literally fight to exist in peace” Jesus, could you be any more dramatic? We’re still talking about fuckin culture here, right? Are the loc’d whities waiting outside your door for you? Nah, didn’t think so. Also, I gotta mention how you’re casually writing off the opinions of other apparently brainwashed black people who disagree with you, since that’s pretty charming. Clearly these people have no agency and are disagreeing because it’s just “gotten to that point” where they can’t form their own opinions.
And lastly, I always find it interesting how people like you will act like you’re begging others to help end discrimination, whilst simultaneously making these cringe-worthy sweeping generalizations of white people:
“White people are the menace of the earth” - despite the fact that the world is only as developed as it is now because of the advancements of people in predominantly white countries? How many things brought about by white people do you use on a daily basis? I’d hope not many, considering your firm stance on how evil cultural appropriation and white people are. Now I wouldn’t normally take credit for any of that just because I happen to have white skin, but I’m trying to play by your rules here.
To add to that, YOU were not “ripped from your land”. Your ancestors, maybe. But not you, and not abducted by me. I’m guessing you live in the US - in which case, this IS your land. You live in the greatest fucking country on this planet - even with all it’s flaws. Would you prefer to be in Africa right now? A country with the highest rate of sexual violence in the world? A country with the 4th highest rate of all crime in all the world? At least you won’t see many white people with locs amirite
“Your entire existence is one big genocide tour”. Because no other cultures aside from “white people” have ever done a bit of dabbling in genocide. No doubt you’d also would consider any genocides committed by “white people” our responsibility, despite the fact that what you describe as “white people” is actually a group of countless separate cultures you’re ignorantly banding together.
I hope my words here don’t make you feel in any way “silenced”. I really want to hear what you’ve gotta say in response. Please tell me how this post isn’t just a massive hissy fit you’re having because you saw a white dude with locs.
I literally read 5 words. You don’t know me, you don’t know anything about me. You don’t know where this case fro. You don’t know what kind of frame of mind I was in when I wrote this. You don’t know anything so for you to come on here and do exact what I was talking about in the post is literally the dumbest, most inconsiderate thing I could’ve ever encountered to date. To tell me what I’m reacting to? Then tell me I’m not valid in MY feelings on MY blog? You don’t even follow me. I let off steam on here all the time about various topics which effect my daily life. You wouldn’t even know that. You just saw one thing that you didn’t necessarily agree with and decided to tell me how it was invalid without any other context. And why? You aren’t entitled to any part of me or my thoughts, my feelings. As previously stated, you don’t even know me. And how presumptuous and obtrusive of you to DEMAND a rebuttal. Who’s mother, father, guardian, competent next of kin, or debate moderator are you? Not mine. If you’re actually looking for a response or explanation from me, the proper way to approach someone would be to GREET them then ASK a question POLITELY. Not tell them their feelings are invalid because you don’t like what they’ve said on THEIR PERSONAL BLOG. Especially when you don’t know them or anything that could’ve warranted this post (even though you insist on telling ME where MY words came from). I figured I’d help you out there since your mom obviously never taught you common respect. If you feel like trolling or causing a scene or just trying to railroad me or show you’re smarter than some random person on the internet you’ll never see ever, I’m not the one. I’m not about that life. I’ll have none of it. I will block you with no hesitation. If you’re sincerely looking to have an INTELLIGENT, RESPECTFUL conversation, your next response better be delivered correctly. Otherwise you can forget it. I’m not taking any abuse, any bullying, any racism, chauvinism, none of that. Not one ounce.
Fair enough. I’ll rephrase what I said. Hi - nice to meet you. I have a few problems with your original post, and since you’ve tagged it on a public forum, I would like to give my public response to it.
You say that cultural appropriation creates negative stereotypes of black people. I completely disagree. What are the negative stereotypes that you believe are generated by appropriation?
You also seem to be under the impression that cultural appropriation is generally just wrong. I disagree with this as well. Culture is not owned by individuals. Culture is an idea - an intangible concept. Going beyond that, cultures will be shared regardless of your objections, and that shared culture will form a new culture, which will then be shared, etc. That’s how culture has worked since the very beginning. Do you know of any cultures that haven’t been influenced by the cultures of it’s predecessors?
Now, it becomes a bit harder to be respectful, since my previous post continued by addressing your ignorant and disrespectful generalizations of people who happen to share the same skin color - but I’ll try my best.
White people are not the menace of this world. This world only exists in it’s current form because of advancements made by people in predominantly white countries. The very country you live in - the country that recognizes your freedom to speak freely on this issue; that provides for you access to most every modern day luxury and freedom - many of which you seem to take for granted - was created by white people. People of all skin colors have contributed greatly to the world. People of all skin colors have greatly damaged the world. Your disdain towards white people seems a bit out of place (or flat out racist), considering that.
You also mentioned how “we” ripped “you” from your lands. I think you mean “they” ripped “them” from their lands - I am not “they”, and you are not “them”. This happened many generations ago. This involved an incredibly minute percentage of the white and black populations, and ignores the fact that practically every culture on this planet - past and present - has dabbled in slavery. This ties in with both the previous and the next point. The previous, because you’re now a resident of possibly the greatest country in the world - even with all it’s flaws. I’m assuming you were born here, which makes this is your land. Alternatively, if you think you’d be better off in Africa right now, I’d like you to consider the fact that Africa is a terrible place by comparison - ranked fourth highest in overall crime, and first in sexual crimes.
And just like how practically every culture has been involved with slavery, genocide has been enacted by many separate cultures. To say the history of white culture is simply one giant genocide tour is incredibly ignorant with that in mind. Genocide is not a “white” thing - it is a (unfortunately) human thing.
My final question for you, is what exactly spawned this hateful tirade of yours? You never actually clarified that, aside from saying “cultural appropriation”. I just assumed it was a because you saw a white dude with locs, because that’s the most common “cultural appropriation” issue that black people on tumblr bring up. But I obviously could be wrong, so would you mind informing me what exactly it was? I still can’t fathom how this response is proportionate considering the offense still falls under cultural appropriation.
Ok well even though I sense some sarcasm and a little bit of a condescending tone, I’ll go ahead and respond.
The fact that my post is tagged doesn’t excuse it from being my personal pose from my personal blog. As you’ve stated, I like in America therefore I have freedom of speech. I highly doubt you’re on here correcting people who are posting shit on here talking about fuck niggers, monkeys, calling my people slaves and such. I have racist shit in my inbox now that dates back to before I ever made any posts about anything regarding race. I used to be an aesthetic blog ages ago. And back to the many random posts I see on here deliberately and blatantly disrespecting black people and people of color. I highly doubt you’re on there correcting anybody or telling them how ignorant they are.
Cultural appropriation has done nothing to benefit me in any way. I’ll tell you what’s lots done. I was written up at my job for wearing my hair in its natural state. No manipulation, no crazy colors, no extensions…. Literally just my hair with a headband to keep it back. I was told it was “unprofessional and distracting,” and that “ethnic hairstyles” we’re not the look the company was seeking to promote. Mind you I worked at a theater for performing arts in the coat check booth. One of the white ushers had a curly perm she picked out into an “Afro” (for lack of a better term 😒) and another of the white employees had “locs” (again, for lack of a better term 🙄). They had never gotten so much as a second glance let alone any sort of reprimand. I have to worry about damaging my hair by burning it straight just so I can go to work and feed myself but white people get to take the things I’m punished for and wear them freely. That’s what cultural appropriation has done. My grandmother was an accountant for 20 years at one of the biggest hospitals in the LA county. She was in management and she was on the panned that was responsible for hiring. She literally had to do everything in her power to strip herself of as much of her blackness as she could to advance. Using harsh chemicals to maintain the look her white bosses and peers thought was best for her. She told me when black people would come in for interviews, the other members of her panel would say things like “I didn’t even read her resume or listen to her answers. She didn’t look the part with those braids those people wear. I know she’s not the one.” She was the only black woman in her all white office. Ashes damaged to this very day from her experience there. Not to mention society in general. African American vernacular English is used in advertisements all the time. Ads that gross billions of dollars. None of the black people who are responsible for the creation of these words are paid a cut or even acknowledged. The great majority of these creators are alive and very traceable now. The creator of the term “on fleek,” Kayla Newman can be found easily with a quick Google search. Did she see a cent from the global craze she single handedly started? No. This isn’t the only case. This is one of many. Too many to even name. It’s honestly disrespectful to be erased like that. Especially when we very obviously added so much to life. It’s true that cultures do change and evolve over time and people share their culture with each other. When I go take salsa, my teacher makes it a point to mention the African roots of the music and dance form. A member of an Asian fraternity literally thanked my sorority sister for being present and giving them a model to base
their organization off of. Black Greek life is a culture of its own. When I ask my Philippino friends about some of the foods they eat, they always pay respect to the Latin influence that made their cuisine possible. But white people steal and claim ownership, never paying respect to the people of color who made it possible for them to do so.
Without the original inhabitants of the Nile river valley aka the kemites aka the kemitians (or the people of ancient kemet, the true name of what we now know as Egypt) there would be no math, science, or medicine period so I don’t wanna hear it. And regardless of other advancements took place in white countries, they weren’t always white people who made them. Some of the most useful and important inventions and technology available are at the hands of scientists and inventors of color. That’s also very googleable might I add.
It doesn’t matter if you didn’t take me from Africa. You still reap the benefits of institutionalized racism and I still suffer. This country was quite literally built on the blood of black people. The entire history of a country cannot be rewritten overnight. The Jim Crow era wasn’t even 100 years ago and I know you see all the police brutality and unjust killing of POC happening so don’t try that either.
And like I said before don’t assume. I’m not every black person on tumblr, surprise surprise. I have my own thoughts, feelings, and reasons why I do things. I do not represent all black people and all black people don’t represent me. The black experience is not monolithic. You can also google that, just for future reference. I don’t owe you an explanation for why I say anything. Ypu don’t sponsor me. You don’t run me. You don’t know me. But, if I can help you understand why you are so disrespectful I’ll go ahead and tell you. It’s life in general. It’s the “ you’re cute for a black girl,” then I see Kylie Jenner being praised and looked up to as a woc. It’s the “oh you have shanaynay braids…. Hayyyy. You go gurl.” Then I see models sporting braids on the runway being called chic and elegant. It’s the “damn. That shaniqua booty is looking big today,” then all the white girls with ass shots and implants are seen as sex goddesses and bombshells. We are shames for the things that are us at our essence while others manipulate themselves to look like us and are praised for it. I am shamed for being me…. Myself at my essence and a white girl can look like me and someone will pay per to be on the cover of a magazine. I’m not good enough the way I am but white girl can pay to look like me and be amazing. That shit is frustrating, tiring, discouraging, problematic, and needs to end
